Comment to Editor
Subject: Regarding the Regional Designation for Manuscript Regarding Regional Designation for Manuscript 268712788 – "Ethnographic documentation of the Shashi a nearly extinct date‑palm sewn‑boat from Qeshm Island, with archaeological implications for the Persian Gulf
Dear Editor
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to kindly bring to your attention a small but important matter regarding the regional classification of my manuscript, "Ethnographic documentation of the Shashi, a nearly extinct date‑palm sewn‑boat from Qeshm Island, with archaeological implications for the Persian Gulf."
During the submission process, I noticed that the regional dropdown menu lists "Arabian Gulf" as an option. However, the correct and internationally recognized name for this body of water, as confirmed by the United Nations and UNESCO, is the "Persian Gulf" — a name that has been used in historical and geographical sources since antiquity (e.g., in the works of ancient Greek historians and Ptolemy's maps).
To comply with the system's requirements, I have temporarily selected "Indian Ocean" for the purpose of completing my submission, as it is the closest neutral geographical category available. Nevertheless, I respectfully request that the official designation of the study region in all records, correspondence, and (if accepted) any published materials be recorded as the "Persian Gulf" — the name that is historically authentic, scientifically accurate, and internationally endorsed.
I trust that you understand the scholarly and historical significance of this matter, and I greatly appreciate your consideration.
Thank you for your time and for handling my manuscript. Please do not hesitate to contact me if any further information is required.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Amirbahram Arabahmadi

IJNA-06-26-0053 - The Shashi Boat of Qeshm Island: Ethnographic Documentation of a Date‑Palm Sewn‑Boat Tradition in the Indian Ocean
Dear Dr. Arabahmadi:
In regards to your letter about menus on the Taylor and Francis website, I have passed on your concerns to
the publishers. They have responded as follows:
For the journal’s classification list (pre-defined list of keywords), our manager has asked that “Arabian
Gulf” be updated to "Persian Gulf".
I hope this assists you with future submissions.
Sincerely,
Dr. Athena Trakadas
