International Conference on Epidemics in Literature and Cinema

On 17 May 2022, the Faculty of World Studies hosted the international conference, “Representation of Epidemics in Literature and Cinema”.

The conference was held via parallel online sessions, comprising a total of eight sessions in which speakers presented in ​​Persian, English and Spanish. The Faculty’s Research Center for the Study of Spanish-Speaking Countries took the lead in organizing the conference, attracting participants and speakers from nine countries (Iran, Spain, USA, Argentina, Brazil, France, Cuba, Mexico and India).

Keynote speakers at the opening ceremony were: Associate Professor Mohammad Samiei, Dean of the Faculty of World Studies; Associate Professor Maryam Haghroosta, academic secretary of the conference and Head of the Research Center for the Study of Spanish-Speaking Countries; and Professor Saied Reza Ameli, Secretary of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution. At the closing ceremony, the keynote address was given by Professor Francisco Marco Martin, University of Texas, and the closing remarks were made by Associate Professor Behrouz Bakhtiari, executive secretary of the conference.
