FWS students visit Singapore, Malaysia

Invited by Dr. Syed Farid Alatas, the acclaimed Islamologist and the professor of the National University of Singapore, a group of the Faculty of World Studies students, supervised by Dr. Arab Ahmadi, the Faculty’s International Affairs Advisor, visited the two countries on July 23, 2017 for a 12-day tour. The trip was in response to the last year’s visit by the Singaporean and Malaysian students to Iran.

During the student trip, which was hosted by the National University of Singapore, the FWS students attended several educational workshops at the National University of Singapore and some Malaysian universities. They also met some Singaporean and Malaysian scholars and attended some scientific-cultural meetings.

Friendly talks and chats with the students of the universities of the two countries were other parts of the FWS students’ program during their time in East Asia.

The students of the Faculty of World Studies visited the Museum of Asian Civilization, Museum of Buddhism, and two famous publishing houses in Singapore and a popular tourist center in Kuala Lumpur.

During their visit, the FWS students attended the seminar of “The Muslim World, Present and Future: Israel, State Sponsored Terrorism and Religious Extremism” in Malaysia on July 28.

The FWS students and professor also met with Dr. Ghanbari, the Scientific Representative and the Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Cultural Representative in Malaysia.

It is worth mentioning that the Singaporean and Malaysian universities received the student visit of the Faculty of World Studies to Singapore and Malaysia very well and the deans of the faculties at these universities asked for the continuation of these scientific visits and suggested a wider development in scientific cooperation with the Faculty of World Studies.
